These are the most popular teen Bible study lessons on the website.
Heaven, life after death, and the resurrection of Jesus are of major topics in youth ministry. Basic Christian Theology for teens is essential to the formation of their Christian faith. It may seem morbid but kids really want to know what the Bible teaches about what happens after you die.
It’s time to give them the true, Biblical, theological answers that the Bible teaches.
The Importance of Jesus’ Resurrection:
The first half of the teen Bible lesson is devoted to Jesus’ claim to be God. This is a unique claim of Christianity and must be a firm, unwavering aspect of a persons faith.
The second half of the lesson is devoted to firming up these truths that the resurrection affirms:
1. The resurrection confirms the truth and value of what Jesus taught and did.
2. Christ’s resurrection is the guarantee of our own resurrection.
3. Jesus is alive today, still in charge, and preparing a place for us.
4. He will come back to get us.
This is an excellent Easter lesson. It is a one page handout with leaders guide.
I also do “Peep Golf” as an activity before the lesson.

The Case for Christmas/The Case for Easter Study Guides with DVD
By Lee Strobel & Bill Butterworth / Zondervan
Two studies in one!
In The Case for Christmas, Lee Strobel investigates the story of Jesus’ birth and reveals how we can know it is true. He examines the Bible’s claim that Jesus was born of a virgin, some of the “puzzles” we find in the Gospel that don’t seem to match up with the historical record, and the great mystery of the incarnation – how Jesus could be both fully God and fully human. Four sessions.
In The Case for Easter, Lee Strobel looks at the story of Jesus’ resurrection and reveals how we can know that it actually took place. He explores the “discrepancies” critics have pointed to in the Gospel accounts, looks at the evidence that Jesus’ tomb was truly empty, and shows how the eyewitness accounts of those who saw Jesus alive after the crucifixion are credible. Four sessions.
This Study Pack contains one The Case for Christmas Study Guide, one The Case for Easter Study Guide, and one DVD case containing both The Case for Christmas and The Case for Easter Video Study.
I used a lot of information from these books:
Know What You Believe, by Paul E. Little, Chariot Victor Publishing.
This book and it’s companion book, Know Why You Believe, are awesome guides for succinctly defining the Christian faith.
These books should be in every Christian leaders reference library. This is basic Christian theology for teens.
Easter is more of a high point in the Christian calendar than Christmas. Easter has not be commercialized or secularly hijacked like Christmas. Celebrate Easter with correct teaching about Jesus, His death, and resurrection.
Jesus: Dead or Alive?: Evidence for the Resurrection
By Josh McDowell & Sean McDowell / Baker Books
Skeptical teens are the beating heart of Josh McDowell Ministries, and in this specially designed resource for youth, bestselling author Josh McDowell and his son, Sean, look at the claims of the Gospel writers and examine the compelling evidence for Jesus Christ’s resurrection. Writing in a language that will resonate with 21st-century youth and in chapters that correspond to the adult and children’s editions of the book, Josh and Sean invite skeptical teens to discover the proof of Christ’s resurrection and what it means for them today.
What Happens When You Die?
The kids are ready for more than the simple answer -heaven. While this is true the Bible indicates there are several stages or events that take place before we arrive in the final heaven. Junior higher’s and high school kids are eager for more details. This is still basic but it does give them some Biblically based theology to add to their beliefs about life after death.
This is a one page lesson plan with leaders guide. Pepper the blank reverse side of the lesson with photo’s from class or your most recent outing. We play the Apples-to-Apples games as a pre-lesson activity. It reinforces the theme of judging mentioned in the lesson several times.
A good follow-up lesson is A New Heaven and Earth.

One Minute After You Die
By Erwin W. Lutzer / Moody Publishers
Someone you know is about to pass away. Will they enter delight? or horror? Many people spend more time planning for a vacation than preparing for eternity. Perhaps it doesn’t seem real that we will still exist—fully conscious and alive—beyond the grave. But it’s true, and it calls for careful consideration.
In this updated edition of One Minute After You Die, Erwin Lutzer urges you to study what the Bible says on this critical subject. Topics include:
I used this book by Erwin Lutzer for some information in this lesson. It is totally awesome (spellbinding actually). The book on CD is good too. This topic is seldom talked about or taught even though it is crucial to the Christian faith.
Jesus: Fully God & Fully Man
Jesus was executed for claiming He was God. In this teen Bible lesson we discover why Jesus’ death can be the atonement for our sins. We look at the virgin birth and scriptural references where Jesus states plainly that He is God.
This makes a good “Palm Sunday” lesson and can be followed up by the teen Bible lesson, “The Importance of Jesus’ Resurrection” at the top of this page.
It is a one page lesson with leaders guide that takes about 20 minutes. I show the YouTube® video embedded below as an intro.

Here is a little YouTube® video that illustrates basic Christian theology:
This video simply explains why Jesus could be the Atonement for our sins.
